Book 1 Equilibrium Force
Synopsis
Equilibrium Force opens the Echo Drift Saga with a near-future world still reshaped by the Wave and the Pulse, two catastrophic signal events that fractured cities, rewired systems, and left deep scars across society. In this fragile landscape, Dana Papadopolis avoids every corridor, network, and attachment that might pull her back into the world she once helped build. She lives on the water, drifting between the Connecticut shoreline and offshore routes where silence still exists and nothing watches her too closely.
Dana’s routine begins to shift after a violent night in a coastal bar draws her into the path of Grace Wilson, an ER doctor whose instinct to help unsettles Dana in ways she does not anticipate. Their brief encounter should have been forgettable, yet something about it refuses to fade. Then a woman from Dana’s past turns up dead on the same stretch of shore, her body untouched but her neural system catastrophically collapsed. A local detective begins asking questions. A buried signal stirs in the regional mesh. Pieces of long-abandoned Echo Drift research start pushing back into the light.
As suspicion grows around town, Dana feels pressure closing in, not from law enforcement alone, but from an echo of old technology that behaves as if it remembers her. The quiet she depends on begins to fracture. Surveillance tightens. Patterns she thought she had outrun start aligning again, and she cannot tell whether the danger is coming from outside or rising inside her own system.
Grace becomes an unexpected constant through the unraveling. Drawn into Dana’s orbit, she senses the tension beneath the surface and refuses to step back, even as the situation darkens. Together they attempt to evade the widening net, seeking answers from someone who once knew the truth of the Echo Drift program and might know why the past is waking now.
When staying ashore becomes untenable, Dana retreats to the only place that ever feels safe: open water. Offshore, far from the noise and the grid, she and Grace try to piece together what is hunting Dana, why it has resurfaced, and what it wants from her. But the ocean cannot silence everything. The deeper they drift into stillness, the more Dana begins to sense that what she carries, and what is awakening, may be far more complex than memory or threat.
Equilibrium Force blends atmospheric tension, emotional depth, and future-noir mystery into the first movement of a twelve-book saga. It follows two women navigating connection, danger, and the long shadows of a world rebuilt on broken systems, where every signal has a cost and silence is never truly empty.
